Horses, Cats and Dogs / Hester, Katter og Hunder
Tinky, Blanca, Chief and Laila
Elaine and Ketty
Ketty is Elaine's Icelandic Horse and actually born on Iceland. Together we ride the great sky county here at Jæren. Mountains or beach, wind or rain, it's always a wonderful ride with my buddy. Thanks Ketty for keeping me young at heart and still horsing around!
Bella with Siljegutten on her heels, Evje
Bella is the North Country Horse we have had the longest. She is Annika's mare from the small breed that is only around 3000 horses and not very well known around the world. The race was nearly wiped out at the end of WWII with only 40 some horses left including three useable stallions.
Annika & Bjørngardens Prins/The Bear Farms Prince
Prince is also a North Country Horse with a big motor and an even bigger heart. The race is now one of the most versitile in the world, we think. Nordlandshester as they are called in Norwegian are used for logging, endurance, show jumping, dressage, gallop racing, cross country, precision driving, harness racing, farming and pleasue ponies as they are usually around 13 hands. Don't let their small size fool you in endurance and strength.
Laila and Wonderful Tinky, Lerbrekk
Tinky is an Irish Tinker pony. He now belongs to Britt in Telemark but Laila rode him from when she was eight and Tinky only two. We will always feel like Mr Tinky is a bit our horse since he was with us for over 9 years. Thank you for all the big horsey hugs, Tinky Man.
Blanca at Obrestad in Norway
Blanca is a seldom race also. She is a Volpino Italino. With an Artic Fox look she is our companion on every walk along the ocean and in the heather highlands that surround Jæren where we live. Blanca is looking after Elaine in the Jæren Gulv office all day. She's a bit barky but most of my customers are understanding that she has the need to warn in her genes! She is really one of the family and can understand 2 different languages. La Blanca Bonita is a wonderful little dog.
Elaine with Blanca and Itza, Brusand
Itza is a chihuahua but rugged on a hike. She is a big dog in a little package. Boulder climbing, sand dunes, and wetlands are no hinder. She actually gets growly if we try and carry her over the roughest terrain. A joy to have and fun for Blanca with a buddy.
